It was great to visit Davidstow Creamery to see the results of investments by Saputo and the Getting Building Fund.
This increased capacity is helping Davidstow cheese get exported to new markets around the world. Production has increased by thousands of tonnes to accommodate this increase, and plans are in place to reduce CO2 emissions by thousands of kilos.
More cheese exported around the world means more employment here in North Cornwall, and more business for our local dairy farms and their supply chains. The factory has increased the number and range of jobs on site and thousands more people are employed or benefit directly or indirectly across the area.
I was also pleased to see the results of a much-needed significant and ongoing investment into water treatment facilities at the site. This should reduce the risk of environmental incidents in the future.
