You may have read Mike Jarvis article in last weeks Cornish Guardian regarding people feeling safe in their homes. I would like to pay tribute to the serving personnel which make that possible. I spent an evening working with the police in my community role last year. Thankfully the night we were out was relatively quiet, with only malfunctioning traffic lights and some noise issues to deal with. But the police are there, protecting us, making us feel safe in our homes and so we can walk the streets without fear. At a time when we celebrate superstar footballers in the world cup, spare a thought for the bobby. They walk in all weathers, they step in where others wouldn't tread, they pick up the pieces after issues of domestic abuse. They are heroes in our local communities doing excellent work everyday. The next time you bump into the police tell them how safe you feel and how much we appreciate them.
