Keir Starmer promised not to tax farmers when he wanted their vote.
He even said food security is national security.
He should be eating those words in shame.
Because less than eighteen months from now many farmers will be forced to sell their holdings to pay a crippling inheritance tax bill if their loved ones die.
This tax is going to jeopardise our country's food security. And it will increase the price you pay for British food at the shops.
I'm sure you've noticed the days are growing shorter and a lot colder. Winter has well and truly arrived.
Despite this, farmers are still out, working long hours to ensure we'll have food on our tables next year.
It won't just be the cold they have to deal with now. Labour have imposed a huge amount of uncertainty and distress for thousands of family farmers across our country.
Uncertainty about whether they'll be able to pass their holdings on from one generation to the next. Anxiety about whether they'll be able to maintain their way of life.
It's going to be a long tough winter for many of our farmers.
